Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling (FSN), also called Floating Acupuncture (FA) is a new acupuncture therapy which is invented by Chinese medical doctor, Dr Zhong-hua Fu in 1996. This acupuncture technique is by using a modified acupuncture needle to stimulate areas where nearby trigger points, or taut muscles, tightened muscles so as to treat musculoskeletal conditions and other conditions.
Normal or traditional acupuncture techniques involves by inserting needles to penetrating skin, subcutaneous and muscular tissues and then stimulating the points. While FSN needle only penetrating to subcutaneous layer and stimulating on this layer. Therefore, this technique has less pain and less sensation on the patents, however, it can produce an incredible pain relieving effect. For some acute pain condition, such as muscular and ligaments strains, tennis elbow, or acute back pain, it can have almost instant pain-relieving results.
Is It Safe?
Absolutely!
Unlike traditional acupuncture, FSN involves shallow needle insertion—just 0.2mm beneath the skin—making it an exceptionally safe and minimally invasive therapy.
I am a fully qualified and insured acupuncturist, proudly associated with:
• The Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ATCM)
• Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling Association of Europe (FSNAE)
• The Acupuncture Regulatory Authority (ARA)
FSN is particularly effective for musculoskeletal (MSK) and soft tissue conditions, offering fast and often instant pain relief. It also helps manage some internal and mental health conditions, depending on the root cause.
However, there are conditions that FSN may not be effective for.

It’s commonly used to treat muscle tension, joint pain, stress, and some internal conditions. Unlike a relaxing spa massage, Tui Na focuses more on addressing specific health concerns and restoring balance in the body.
It’s somewhat similar to osteopathic or deep tissue massage.
If you're experiencing mild to moderate pain but aren’t quite ready for acupuncture, Tui Na can be a great alternative to try first.
Reflexology is a therapeutic foot massage that stimulates specific pressure points on the feet, which correspond to different organs and systems in the body.
Benefits include improved circulation, reduced stress, better sleep, and overall relaxation.
During the session, clients simply lie back and relax while I apply firm pressure to targeted areas on the feet/shin/calf.
Gua Sha (pronounced gwah-shah) is a traditional Chinese healing technique that involves gently scraping the skin with a smooth-edged tool, usually made of jade or stone. This helps stimulate circulation, release muscle tension, reduce inflammation, and promote the body’s natural healing.

It’s commonly used for neck and shoulder pain, headaches, tension, colds, and to boost overall wellness. The treatment may leave temporary red or purple marks (called “sha”), which are a normal sign of improved blood flow and typically fade within a few days.
Gua Sha can be done on the body or face, depending on the condition.
In China, many women use facial Gua Sha to help reduce puffiness, especially before their period or after eating salty food.
Personally, I like to do Gua Sha before important events to help my face feel refreshed and de-puffed.
